Pearl City exists in an other worldly place where melancholic pop music reigns supreme and the future’s not so desolate. Formed by duo Nick & Greta in Manchester, their debut track 'Flames' is the opening portal for a parallel world they've created, and a temporary respite from the industrial and politically oppressed world that surrounds them; "Pearl City to us is otherworldly - a fantasy place. The music takes us to an alternative realm where we can escape from reality, making our own soundscapes for them to occur there" state Nick & Greta.

Pieced together from a range of live instrumentation, studio trickery, field recordings, obscure instruments (including the Guzheng and Steel Pan), alongside a more typical combo of synthesisers, effects units and drum machines, their take on avant-pop dips between glacial vocal arrangements, electronic pulses and phantom echoes. It recasts a love for Bjørk, Arca and dystopian anime flicks into a mould that's entirely it's own - future pop music for a new virtual world.
